The Healer

The Healer shares anecdotal moments of Estelle’s mother, Sara Zlotogorska, and her visits to her grandparent’s home in the small town of Zdunska Wola before 1939. Seen through a child’s lens, the book, exquisitely illustrated by artist David Asher Brook, celebrates the vibrancy and rich diversity of a Jewish family and their community at that time in pre-war Poland.

The book The Healer was adapted from the animation by the same name. It is part of a bigger project of short animations focusing on Jewish life in pre-war Poland entitled “…and he taught the canaries to sing”.
