…and he taught the canaries to sing

This collection of animations focuses on, and celebrates, the diversity and vibrancy of Jewish life in Poland before 1939. The animations were created by Australian artists David Asher Brook, Steven Durbach (aka Sid Sledge), and Anita Lester. These vignettes provide easy access to stories that convey the fun and poignancy of everyday life.

the animations will help children assimilate the normalcy of life in pre-war Poland into their family histories. The animations are about pranks played on the streets of Lodz, a father teaching canaries to sing, and the story of a sister, brother, and their grandfather clock.” - Estelle Rozinski
