We Dream We Speak
An Exhibition of Art Works by Aboriginal and Jewish Artists.
The Ngala Nanga Mai pARenT Group, a project of the Department of Community Child Health at Sydney Children’s Hospital Network Randwick, is partnering with Jewish artists, led by Arts Educator and Curator Estelle Rozinski, in an art exhibition to be held at the Bondi Pavilion Gallery to be opened on Tuesday 9th July 2013 at 5:30. The art exhibition coincides with NAIDOC Week 2013 and runs until 21st July.
Developed and curated the art space at the Bondi Pavilion Gallery as part of the National Jewish Music Festival Shir Madness in 2012. Following the success of this exhibition, Estelle Rozinski and Michelle Jersky (Project Officer of the Ngala Nanga Mai pARenT Group) saw the potential of bringing together these artists with artists from the La Perouse area to explore artistic ideas and to share and learn from each other.
The diversity of life experiences, history and cultural inheritance of these two communities has provided an exciting platform for artistic and personal collaboration. Whilst there are many shared experiences of trauma and discrimination, there are also many intersections of inherited wisdom and knowledge that warrant celebration.
A range of media will be exhibited including a collaborative ceramic totem, paintings, mixed media works and shell work. All the works will be for sale and all sales will go towards the participating artists.
